The priests of the temple tell that according to folk beliefs, Ravana used to go to Kailash every day to worship Lord Shiva. From there he used to return with a Shivling. At the same time, it is believed that King Yudhishthira established a Shivling here and worshiped it during his exile after being defeated in the game of Mahabharata. This area was surrounded by dense forests for years. It is said that the British government wanted to capture the area around the temple. But the British army had to step back from it due to divine calamities. According to popular legends, an attempt was also made to steal the Shivling of the temple. Some thieves also excavated the Shivling, but even after a lot of digging, when the end of the Shivling was not found. After which he started running away, then the wheel of his car sank there and became a stone. It can still be seen today.
