 EPFO stands for Employees' Provident Fund Organisation. It is a statutory organization established by the Indian government under the Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, of 1952. The EPFO is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.

The main objective of EPFO is to administer social security schemes for the employees working in the organized sector in India. The EPFO manages and reg
ulates the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF), Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS), and Employees' Deposit-Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI) for the employees working in establishments that come under the purview of the EPF and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952.

The EPF is a mandatory retirement savings scheme for all employees earning a monthly salary of up to INR 15,000. Under this scheme, both the employer and the employee contribute 12% of the employee's basic salary and dearness allowance towards the employee's EPF account. The EPS is a pension scheme for employees who are members of the EPF scheme, and the EDLI provides life insurance coverage to the employees who are members of the EPF scheme.

The EPFO also provides online services for its members, including an account balance inquiry, claim settlement, e-passbook, and UAN (Universal Account Number) registration.

The options available on the EPFO website include:

  • Know your EPF Balance: Members can check their EPF balance and other account details online by entering their UAN (Universal Account Number) and password on the website.
  • UAN Member e-Sewa: Members can access various online services related to their EPF account, such as updating their KYC details, downloading their EPF passbook, transferring their EPF account, etc.
  • Online EPF Claim: Members can submit their EPF withdrawal or transfer claims online through the website.
  • Employer e-Sewa: Employers can access various online services related to their EPF account, such as uploading their employees' KYC details, generating ECR (Electronic Challan cum Return) for EPF contributions, etc.
  • Pensioner Portal: Pensioners can access various online services related to their pension account, such as downloading their pension payment order, checking their pension payment details, etc.
  • EPF Grievance Management System: Members and employers can lodge their EPF-related grievances online through the website, and track the status of their grievances.
  • EPFiGMS Mobile App: Members and employers can also use the EPFiGMS mobile app to lodge their grievances and track their status.

In addition to these options, the EPFO website also provides various other online services and information related to the EPF and other social security schemes administered by the EPFO.

How to withdraw EPF amount?

EPF (Employees' Provident Fund) is a retirement savings scheme administered by the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in India. Members of the EPF scheme can withdraw their EPF balance either partially or fully, subject to certain conditions. Here are the steps to withdraw EPF amount:

Check your EPF balance: You can check your EPF balance by logging in to the EPFO portal using your Universal Account Number (UAN) and password. Make sure that your KYC (Know Your Customer) details are updated, as this is required for online withdrawals.

Fill and submit the withdrawal form: There are three types of EPF withdrawal forms - Form 19, Form 10C, and Form 31. Form 19 is used for final EPF settlement (i.e., withdrawal of the entire EPF balance), Form 10C is used for EPS (Employee Pension Scheme) withdrawal, and Form 31 is used for partial EPF withdrawals for specific purposes, such as medical treatment, house construction, marriage, education, etc. You can download the appropriate form from the EPFO website, fill it up and submit it to your employer for attestation.

Submit the form to the EPFO: After your employer has attested the form, you can submit it to the EPFO for processing. You can submit the form either online or offline. To submit the form online, log in to the EPFO portal using your UAN and password, and select the 'Claim' option under the 'Online Services' tab. Follow the instructions and upload the scanned copy of the attested form. To submit the form offline, you can submit it to the nearest EPFO office.

Track your EPF withdrawal status: You can track the status of your EPF withdrawal online by logging in to the EPFO portal using your UAN and password. The status will be updated at each stage of the processing, and you will also receive SMS alerts.

Note: The EPF withdrawal process may take several days to complete, depending on the mode of submission and the workload at the EPFO.
