2. Expressways typically have higher speed limits than interstates. Highways may have lower speed limits, while motorways frequently have 70 mph or greater speed limits.
3. Expressways are often built to handle more significant traffic and faster speeds than roads. They might feature fewer curves and obstructions, longer acceleration and deceleration lanes, and wider streets.
4. Toll: While roads are often free to use, expressways may be tolled, requiring drivers to pay a fee.
5. Urban vs. rural: While motorways are often located in urban regions where there is more traffic congestion and a greater need for quick, efficient transportation, highways are frequently found in both urban and rural locations.
There were a total of 29 Expressways in India as of the cutoff date of September 2021, with a length of roughly 7,600 km. These motorways, which are dispersed across the nation, are built to facilitate quicker and safer long-distance travel.
The Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and Western Peripheral Expressway are a few of the country's busiest Expressways.
